“Sculpture is inspired by the simple geometry repeated in circle. Bringing this geometry into the 3D space creates multifaceted glass flower.”

Weight: 462 kg | 36 LED lights inside the installation + 4 external reflectors | Material: optical glass tubes, clear | Number of glass components: 1647 pieces | Overall height: 7 366 mm | Dia: 1 220 mm

Design Insider Lasvit New York Geometry

The lighting installation created for this exceptional building by Lasvit in-house designer Ludmila Žilkova, and in collaboration with Foster and Partners, is inspired by the geometry of circles arranged in a six-fold, hexagonal symmetry.

Žilková likes to use an experimental approach to her projects, trying to re-think common manufacturing technologies and rules of production by means of studying the behavior and particular properties of the given material. The composition she created for 551 West 21st Street tries to find harmony between simple geometrical forms, air circulation, and lighting.
