New York Hotels: Where to Stay

One of Design Insider’s themes in November was New York – fitting well with the BDNY exhibition on the 11th and 12th November. With this in mind, we would like to present three hotels in New York to consider on your next trip overseas.

1 Hotel

Design Insider Morgan New York Hotel

“Earlier this year I visited New York, after about 8 years. I split my stay between Soho and Central Park, and although I have always preferred the Soho area for its neighbourhood atmosphere, I am glad I ventured to Manhattan’s busy Midtown to stay in the recently completed 1 Hotel, designed by Avroko.

The 1 Hotel was located in prime position near Central Park and was very relaxing and inspiring, an urban oasis with natural materials, reclaimed materials and a lot of living plants. It offered a luxury that was unexpected, understated and not elitist. The bedrooms feature a simple window seat that allows you to gaze at the skyline and also a recycling bin! Timber features instead of plastic and filtered water instead of bottled. The fresh natural interior contrasts very pleasantly with Manhattan’s gritty and overcrowded streets. The planting on the exterior draws you in, and the simplicity does not mean poor service, that was very professional and welcoming. So, Hotel designers out there, more of this please!” – Katerina Zachariades, Design Director at Morgan.

AC Hotel, New York

The AC Hotel in Times Square is the Marriott’s attempt to woo millennials with a minimalist aesthetic. Open spaces, good use of light, modern decor and helpful staff for the city that never sleeps.

Crosby Street Hotel

Design Insider Style Library New York Hotel

Crosby Street Hotel is situated on a quiet cobbled street in the heart of New York’s vibrant SoHo neighbourhood. There are 86 bedrooms and suites over 11 floors. Interior design by Kit Kemp reflects a fresh, contemporary style.”– Style Library Contract
